A beautiful 3-bedroom post and beam home in a chalet style. We were able to build a custom sunroom for passing the time in peace with a book or a movie.
There was also a bonus loft that was added to the build in order to open up the home and expose more of the space to the large, south facing, sun-soaked windows. A detached garage was also built with extra space for work benches and storage.
This solar-powered home is complete with roof-mounted solar panels and a solar sail that can be directed towards the sun according to the season. It is built 100% off the grid due to the location being about 15kms to the nearest power supply. Other essential services are provided. There is a separate foundation battery room located below the sunroom that provides most of the needed power to the home. During periods of extended cloudy days, a backup generator powered by propane is available when the main supply of solar power gets depleted. Custom features include an overhead door between two bedrooms to allow for one large room and a moveable NanaWall folding door system in between the sunroom and dining area to provide an optional open space for entertaining.
